Organic milk price stabilizes, but the floor is still fragile

The pressure on organic milk prices in the first months of 2026 is slowly fading into the background. Most buyers are keeping the payout prices unchanged this month. Meanwhile, the balance in the organic dairy market remains fragile. The organic base price of Eko-Holland is not falling further after two consecutive reductions and remains unchanged in May at €67.05 per 100 kilos, excluding VAT and based on an annual delivery of 1 million kilos of milk. The biodynamic milk price comes to €72.05 per 100 kilos. A-ware's organic milk price has been stable at €68.30 per 100 kilos since February. Because other processors have lowered their prices, the cheesemaker is now at the top of the DCA Farmgate Milkprice Calculator for organic milk. FrieslandCampina also did not lower the organic guaranteed price further and kept it unchanged at €61.75 per 100 kilos. Due to the seasonal discount of €2, the actual payout price is still somewhat lower at €57.67 per 100 kilos. In an explanation, FrieslandCampina nevertheless said it expected organic milk prices to fall further. The reason the guaranteed price did not move with this is that the market had been assessed as slightly negative in March. Arla is for now the only processor where the organic milk price shows a clear decline this month. The organic milk price in the Netherlands is falling by €2.95 to €67.05 per 100 kilos, partly due to declining seasonal premiums. All in all, the organic dairy market still feels fragile. Buyers speak of good sales opportunities, but the supply of organic milk is high, partly because deliveries are currently at the seasonal peak.
