In the US, President Trump is making diesel cheaper, especially for farmers and truck drivers. The high fuel prices are undermining Trump's popularity among his supporters. That could have consequences for the Republicans in the midterm elections on 3 November. Trump is allowing use of red diesel on public roads in the US until the end of this year. He is also abandoning an export ban on diesel after the G7 decided to release 100 million barrels of oil and diesel from oil reserves over the next four months.
