Brazil sets another pork export record

The Brazilian export of pork reached a new record volume in September. Exports to the Philippines, affected by swine fever, remain the main driver, while shipments to other Asian countries and Mexico also grew strongly. In total, 151,600 tons were exported. This represents an increase of 25.9% compared to the same month last year, when the volume was 120,400 tons. Also, export revenues reached a record level: with a value of $368.4 million, the turnover was 29.9% higher than the $283.7 million recorded in September 2023. This confirms Brazil's position on the global pork market continues to strengthen. With strong performance in September, Brazilian pork exports between January and September 2025 showed a growth of 13.2% in export volume compared to the same period last year. In total, 1.121 million tons were exported, compared to 990,700 tons in 2024. Export revenues increased in the same period by 24.6% to $2.702 billion, compared to $2.169 billion a year earlier. The figures underline the ongoing growth of the Brazilian pork sector, benefiting from a strong foreign sales channel and favorable international pricing. Philippines remain main destination The Philippines continue to rapidly expand their share in Brazilian pork exports. In September, the country imported 49,000 tons, an increase of 73.9% compared to the same month last year. This strengthens the Philippines' position as the largest market for Brazilian pork. After the Philippines, China follows with 13,600 tons (-18.2%), Japan with 11,400 tons (+32.4%), Vietnam and Mexico each with 9,600 tons (respectively +39.8% and +55.8%). Chile (8,300 tons, -13.7%), Hong Kong (8,200 tons, -5.3%), Singapore (5,600 tons, +2.2%), Argentina (4,200 tons, +82.2%) and Georgia (4,000 tons, +120%) also took substantial volumes. The wide distribution of destinations emphasizes the growing global demand for Brazilian pork. Rio Grande do Sul grows significantly Santa Catarina remains the largest exporting state of Brazil with 72,700 tons, an increase of 17.4% compared to the same month last year. The second place goes to Rio Grande do Sul, which exported 35,700 tons (+39.6%), followed by Paraná with 25,300 tons (+35.5%). Minas Gerais saw a decrease of 10.6% with 2,900 tons, while Mato Grosso noted an increase of 19.1% to 3,900 tons.
