Strong powder prices meet diverging fundamentals

Dairy powder prices continued their recovery in October, led by substantial gains in SMP amid tightening European milk availability and resilient international demand. However, the recovery was not evenly distributed, as strong competition from global suppliers continued to challenge European competitiveness in WMP and whey powder. With prices reaching elevated levels and the whey protein complex showing signs of correction, uncertainty is emerging over the sustainability of the rally.
