Return to Suez Canal puts further pressure on freight rates

Container freight rates remain under pressure as demand weakens and more ships return to the Suez Canal route. The Drewry World Container Index fell by another 2% this week, while rates on Asia–Europe routes have now declined for 13 consecutive weeks. Meanwhile, uncertainty remains over the possible introduction of US and Chinese port fees.
