DCA EU-5 Piglet Index drops due to post-summer supply

AnalysisBy our team of market reportersPublished: Today 03:40 PM CET

There is a decline in the DCA EU-5 Piglet Price Index in week 38 to €35.31 per piglet (down from €37.16). Following weeks of continuous pressure, live pig price corrections and widespread oversupply across Europe have broken through, pushing prices downward across both the pig and pork markets. European and Dutch slaughter pig markets are also facing downward price pressure due to rising post-summer supply surpluses. Heavy pork accumulation, combined with persistently weak consumer demand, is creating a challenging market environment.
