Cono milk price slowly back to its former place

Cono Cheese Makers is succeeding this year, with steady milk price increases, in regaining something of its former position. The latest increase for August fits that picture. The Beemster producer is not yet back as the overall best payer, and not for all volumes either, but it is making progress. The basic price for August has been increased by €1.06 to €42.22 per 100 kilos. This puts the company back at the highest basic price in DCA Farmgate Milk Price Calculator. It is also paying the highest price again with the pasture milk price. With one exception though. That is for delivery volumes of more than 100,000 kilos per month. In that case, the North Holland cooperative still has to concede to industry peer Lactalis Leerdammer. Cono's top milk price too, the price including all surcharges, is not yet number 1, but is in second place. With that, the cheese maker has emerged from a position in which it had ended up over the past 5 years: no longer the average best payer of milk money in the Netherlands. The branded cheeses of the North Holland company were having a hard time. Gradually, the prospects for Cono have turned again. Moreover, the financial year is not yet over. It runs through December. After that, it will take a few more months before the supplementary payment is also known. Traditionally, it is between Cono and FrieslandCampina to see who pays the most milk money in cash over the whole year. For now, Cono is setting a relatively high milk price this year.
