Quality problems in onions push up price

In seed onions, quality is a major topic among processors. Quite a few lots come by that looked beautiful in the windrow, but now that they are being processed are a major disappointment. Sorters generally do not have large work stocks and if a lot drops out, it is difficult to find replacement onions that are immediately deliverable. Before harvesting, irrigation really should be done and growers who have seed onions in storage now also know the price.
