DCA benchmarks: Protein commentary week 32

The high protein market for this week continues on almost the same footing as last week, although benchmark prices do show some fluctuations. However, fundamentally the market has not changed a lot. WPC80 is still the product that shapes the market, while other products are traded less. But even trade in WPC80 has become very quiet, and with that the price-spread has increased. On the top level WPC80 Instant is still traded at around €29000 a tonne, but we also see product being traded at €25000 a tonne. Maybe this is not the formally highest ranking and most broadly accepted product, but still good quality WPC80. This broadening range is partly caused by the thinning amount of trades. Meanwhile there is also a certain danger of price erosion, as some producers of sports nutrition are seeking cheaper alternatives, notably MPC85. The price of this product has also risen a lot in the past months, but at around €13000 a tonne it is still a lot cheaper. The functionality of the product is not the same, but not all consumers think this is the biggest problem. The price of WPC80 is not up to everybody's purchasing limit anymore.
