Arla, A-ware and DOC raise August prices

Following FrieslandCampina, Arla, A-ware and DOC Kaas are also increasing their (conventional) milk prices for the month of August. It is notable that Arla and DOC Kaas, which are in a merger process, are not increasing by the same amount this month, whereas that was the case last month. Most processors are also increasing their organic milk prices for August. Coöperatie Eko-Holland is also joining the companies raising prices. The dairy companies point to rising prices for dairy products as the reason for the higher prices, although those price increases have so far been fairly limited. It is noticeable, however, that milk supplies are continuing to decline under the influence of the drought and the high temperatures of recent times.Arla and DOC Arla Foods is increasing the milk price for August by €1.07 per 100 kilo, bringing the base price to €41.59 per 100 kilo. This increase applies to a relatively small number of members in the Netherlands. Members of DOC Kaas, which is now also part of Arla, are receiving a smaller increase. That is limited to €0.60, meaning that for August they will receive a base price of only €40.64 per 100 kilo. In July, the members of Arla and former DOC increased by the same amount. No explanation has been given so far. WP of A-ware additionally up Competitor A-ware is somewhere in between in terms of the increase. This company is raising the base price in the Netherlands by €0.65 to €40.97 per 100 kilo. The WP, A-ware's weighted average milk price, is going up 15 cents more and therefore increases by €0.80 to €54.29 per 100 kilo. This is because a larger share of the milk delivered falls within a higher value-added stream, mainly thanks to the Beter Voor and Koe bewust milk streams. The highest milk price can still be achieved at A-ware thanks to the Beter Voor program. A-ware Belgium In Belgium, A-ware is increasing the milk price for conventional milk by €0.62 to €39.76 per 100 liter. This is the base price. Organic price further up In most cases, the organic milk price for August is rising even further than the conventional price. Market leader Eko-Holland is increasing the expected milk price for regular organic milk by €1.00 to €68.55 per 100 kilo. For biodynamic milk, the expected price is also being increased by €1.00 to €73.55 per 100 kilo. Arla is increasing the organic milk price for August by as much as €2.85 to €70.15 per 100 kilo. A-ware is keeping the organic milk price unchanged.
