Global Dairy Trade rises again after three declines

After three auctions with a decline in the average price index, the Global Dairy Trade has gained ground again. During the second auction of July, the index rises by 1.5% to $3,815 per ton. The market is largely characterized by small price movements. This does not apply to cheddar, which falls by 6.5% to $3,586 per ton. Only New Zealand product was traded here, which was more expensive than European product. That difference has now been made up again. Mozzarella more expensive than cheddar Mozzarella, on the other hand, rises by 1.3% to $3,940 per ton. This concerns product from Europe, offered and produced by Solarec and Arla. For the first time since August last year, mozzarella on the GDT is above cheddar. Gains for powder There are also gains for the milk powders, which were still under pressure during the previous auctions. This allows the cautious conclusion that the powder market has found a bottom. Skimmed milk powder rises by 2.8% to $3,234 per ton, while whole milk powder increases by 1.6% to $3,486 per ton. Small decline for butter The butter market shows a small decline of 0.6% to $5,303 per ton. It is striking that European product is almost $1,000 per ton more expensive than product from New Zealand.
