Major northern processing hubs are experiencing domestic oversupply and export bottlenecks. European meat production has been driven by high slaughter volumes in Spain and Denmark. Supermarket promotions and major events like the World Cup usually boost retail volumes during the summer months, but they have been notably absent this year. Inflation and shifting consumer diets mean local demand to absorb the current volume. On the global stage, European exporters remain blocked; a weak US dollar is driving record American volumes. Germany recorded the VEZG quotation dropping by €8.00 to €40.00. Exporters report that this cut may have established a realistic market floor, allowing buying interest to enter the market.
