Lactalis leaves June milk price unchanged

Lactalis Leerdammer keeps the milk price for the month of June equal to that for May. The cheese maker thus takes a position in terms of base price close below that of FrieslandCampina. On average over the first half of the year, through June, the base price remains just under €40 per 100 kilos. For May and June, Lactalis Leerdammer pays out a base price of €40.40 per 100 kilos, based on an annual delivery of 1 million kilos. For annual deliveries of 100,000 kilos per month and more, 80 cents per 100 kilos extra is paid. Leerdammer does however lack a top milk stream, as many other processors have. On average over the first half of the year, the company is a solid mid-table performer, but has to let FrieslandCampina and certainly Cono go ahead of it, as shown by the DCA Farmgate milk price calculator. In France, the home country of family business and dairy giant Lactalis, the company currently pays around €40.00 per 100 kilos of milk, but there is pressure on that price. In the first months of the year, €40.60 was still being paid. From April, the price fell, to the dissatisfaction of suppliers association Unell and farmers' organization Coördination Rurale. Actions have been announced for the plant in the southern French city of Rodez. The French milk price is by the way paid out at much lower contents than in the Netherlands. For fat, a content of 3.8% is assumed, for protein 3.2%. At Dutch content levels, the French milk price would be about €5.00 per 100 kilos higher. Conversely, the calculation price here would work out more than €5.00 lower at French contents.
