Record-breaking trend continues in Brazilian chicken exports

Brazilian chicken meat exports maintained positive momentum in April. Once again, Brazil recorded the highest export volume ever for the month of April. Mexico emerged as one of the fastest-growing markets. According to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), Brazil exported 486,500 tonnes of chicken meat in April, including fresh and processed chicken products. This represents a 2.2% increase compared with the same month last year, when exports totalled 475,900 tonnes. Export revenues also rose during the month. Sales reached $940.5 million in April, up 3.8% from the $906.1 million recorded in April 2025. The positive performance in April reinforced the sector’s growth over the first four months of 2026. Between January and April, Brazilian chicken meat exports totalled 1.94 million tonnes, an increase of 4.3% compared with the 1.86 million tonnes shipped during the same period in 2025. Revenue growth outpaced the increase in export volumes. Export earnings reached $3.70 billion in the first four months of the year, up 6.1% from $3.49 billion in the same period last year. China remains the leading market China remained the leading market for Brazilian chicken exports in April, importing 52,200 tonnes. This was 0.6% higher than in the same month last year. Japan followed with 42,300 tonnes, an increase of 13.1%, while Saudi Arabia imported 35,800 tonnes, up 5.2%. Exports to the European Union rose strongly, reaching 33,000 tonnes, an increase of 23.1%. Mexico recorded the strongest growth among the leading markets, with imports increasing by 50.2% to 27,100 tonnes. Singapore also recorded solid growth, importing 12,600 tonnes, up 3.7%. Despite the growth, some markets recorded declines. South Africa imported 26,300 tonnes, down 0.8%, while shipments to the Philippines fell by 10.7% to 24,000 tonnes. Exports to the United Arab Emirates dropped by 52.7% to 19,100 tonnes, and shipments to South Korea decreased by 10.2% to 15,500 tonnes.
