Belgapom refrains from quoting again

Belgapom is once again unable to set a quotation for processing potatoes. With too few transactions, no price can be established, despite this week being intended to highlight the product. The Belgapom quotation list shows a weak picture throughout the season. Since the start, market sentiment has been described as dull. Prices remain low, with €1,50 per 100 kilos as the highest level from harvest until the end of February. In the last two months, the quotation largely disappears. In March, one price is set at €1 per 100 kilos; for the rest of the month there is no quotation. April shows a similar picture with three weeks a quotation of €0,00. The month again ends without a price due to a lack of transactions, at the same time as the end of National Potato Week. In the Netherlands, the picture is similar. PotatoNL still published a quotation at the beginning of this week, but next Monday there will be none. Due to King's Day, a stable market and limited supply, no quotation is made that week. In France, market analysts from the Ministry of Agriculture have not been able to establish a price for Fontane and Innovator all season. RNM reports only one quotation for Innovator in October 2025 and one for Fontane in December 2025. In both cases, this concerns €3 per 100 kilos; otherwise, prices are completely absent. In Germany, Reka Rheinland continues to quote, despite the low price levels. Fontane stabilizes at €0,50 per 100 kilos. Innovator quotes at €3 per 100 kilos and is therefore above Agria. That variety held up until the end of January at €7 per 100 kilos, but has now fallen to €2,50 per 100 kilos. In the Netherlands and Belgium, a great deal of action was taken last week to bring the potato to the attention of consumers. Organizations also want to contribute to bringing as many potatoes as possible to market now that hundreds of thousands of tons are unsaleable. Poland also has a surplus Not only the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany are dealing with surpluses. Poland also has this problem. Various media report that in that country 700.000 to 1 million tons still have no buyer. This amounts to well over a tenth of the harvest, which in 2025 came to 7 million tons. Production in Poland turned out more than 1 million tons higher than in 2024. The Polish Ministry of Agriculture cites that as the cause of the surplus, but last year's harvest in Poland was not particularly exceptional. In previous years, the Poles also harvested more potatoes than in 2025.
