Milk production in the 24 selected US states continued to expand in March, reaching 8.89 million tons, although the pace of growth slowed for the fourth consecutive month. Output gains were largely driven by herd expansion rather than productivity improvements. While most states recorded increases, growth remained concentrated in key regions such as Kansas, Texas, and Wisconsin. Despite a modest monthly increase, farmgate milk prices are still significantly lower than the previous year, weighing on the milk-feed price ratio and farmer profitability.
