Brazilian pork exports grow by over 30% to a record level

Brazilian pork exports reached a historic record in March, according to data released by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA). Growth was considerably stronger than in previous months, driven in particular by a sharp increase in shipments to the Philippines.Total shipments amounted to 153,800 tonnes, representing a 32.2% increase compared with the same period last year, when exports stood at 116,300 tonnes. Export revenues also set a new monthly record, reaching $361.6 million, up 30.1% from the $278 million recorded in March 2025.Performance in the first quarter of the year remained strong. Between January and March 2026, export volumes totalled 392,200 tonnes, marking a 16.5% increase compared with 336,800 tonnes in the same period last year. Revenue for the period reached $916 million, up 16.1% from $788.9 million in 2025.Philippines sees strong growth The Philippines remained the leading destination for Brazilian pork exports, importing 48,900 tonnes in March, an increase of 80.7% compared with the same month last year. Japan followed with 18,200 tonnes, up 85.8%, while exports to China totalled 12,700 tonnes, reflecting a decline of 9.5%. Shipments to Chile reached 10,600 tonnes, up 26.1%, while exports to Hong Kong totalled 8,800 tonnes, down 29.4%.At the state level, Santa Catarina remained the largest exporter of pork, shipping 71,000 tonnes in March, an increase of 21.5% compared with the same period last year. Rio Grande do Sul followed with 43,300 tonnes, up 71.4%, while Paraná exported 21,400 tonnes, marking a 10.5% increase. Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso also recorded strong growth, with exports of 4,800 tonnes and 4,200 tonnes respectively, corresponding to increases of 69% and 37.8%.
