Brazilian chicken exports continue to grow

Brazilian chicken meat exports have once again reached a new record level for the month of February, with export values rising even more strongly. Data from the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) shows that exports to the European Union have been particularly strong.Brazil’s chicken meat exports recorded a strong performance in February, reaching a total of 493,200 tonnes. This represents the highest volume ever exported for the month and an increase of 5.3% compared to February last year, when exports stood at 468,400 tonnes, according to data frotm the ABPA. In value terms, exports grew even more significantly. Revenue reached US$945.4 million, marking an 8.6% increase compared to the US$870.4 million recorded in February 2025. This is also the highest value ever achieved for the month.Looking at the first two months of the year as a whole, Brazil exported 952,300 tonnes of chicken meat, up 4.5% from the 911,400 tonnes shipped during the same period last year. Export revenues for this period totaled US$1.819 billion, an increase of 7.2% compared to US$1.696 billion in early 2025. Both volume and value represent record levels for the period.China remains the most important export destination Looking at the data by destination, China regained its position as the leading market for Brazilian chicken exports in February, with shipments totaling 49,400 tonnes, representing a slight year-on-year decline of 0.4%. The United Arab Emirates followed with 44,000 tonnes, marking a strong increase of 13.4% compared to the same month last year. Exports to Japan reached 38,200 tonnes, showing a sharp rise of 38%, while shipments to Saudi Arabia totaled 33,800 tonnes, up 7.3%.South Africa recorded imports of 31,300 tonnes, reflecting a significant increase of 27.6%. The European Union posted the largest and most notable growth, with volumes reaching 30,100 tonnes, up 46.3% year-on-year. The Philippines imported 30,000 tonnes, representing a 29.2% increase, while South Korea received 18,500 tonnes, up 2.4%. In contrast, exports to Mexico declined to 15,800 tonnes, a decrease of 24.3%. Singapore imported 15,400 tonnes, showing an increase of 20.3%. At the regional level, Paraná remained the leading exporting state, shipping 211,000 tonnes in February and recording solid year-on-year growth. Santa Catarina followed with 104,600 tonnes, although slightly below last year’s level. Rio Grande do Sul exported 61,100 tonnes, showing a more noticeable decline, while São Paulo and Goiás both posted increases, reaching 28,800 tonnes and 24,500 tonnes respectively.
