Supply and demand for piglets are moving into balance

After nine consecutive increases, piglet prices will stabilise this week as supply and demand move into balance. No price changes are expected on the pig market. The turning point in the piglet market will probably still take a few weeks. There are still shortages, but fewer than a few weeks ago. Prices on the free market are also no longer rising. The market is calming down after the spring upswing, traders say. Historically, the seasonal peak has now been reached. In the Netherlands, the DCA BestPigletPrice is stabilising this week at €57,50 per piglet. The German VEZG piglet price is also no longer rising and remains at €58 per piglet. In contrast to recent years, the BPP therefore remains below the German price. The German piglet market is supported by higher pig prices. DCA Exchange Mutation Price unchanged In the run-up to Easter, pig prices are moving steadily. Demand for pigs is good. In particular in the Better Life segment there are shortages. In Germany too, pigs are easy to place this week, despite no slaughter taking place next Friday. Based on the quotes, the DCA Exchange Mutation Price remains unchanged.
