Pork prices are on the rise again

Pork prices have increased significantly in recent weeks. Strong Easter demand, favourable weather conditions, and reduced demand for beef due to high prices have all contributed to this upward trend.The average pork price has risen considerably. According to data gathered by DCA Market Intelligence, the average carcass price increased by 5.76 cents per kg. The main driver behind this growth is strong Easter-related demand. Prices for almost all cuts have risen sharply, not just those typically associated with Easter, such as fillets. This indicates that broader seasonal spring demand is also supporting the market.The only cut that did not see an increase is bacon. In contrast, fillet prices rose by 23 cents, shoulders by 9 cents, and hams by 6 cents. Neck prices also increased significantly, up by 9 cents. This is largely due to the warm weather in Northern Europe in recent weeks, which has supported demand.Notably, lean trimmings declined in price. This is not related to Easter demand but rather to shifting dynamics in the minced meat market. Growing demand for mixed minced meat is driving up pork trimming prices, while falling beef trimming prices are encouraging the use of mixed products.EU prices reflect upward momentumThe DCA data is in line with recent EU market developments. Pig prices had declined significantly earlier: between week 46 of 2025 and week 5 of 2026, the average EU carcass price dropped by 33,5%. However, in the past seven weeks, prices have recovered by 12.8%, rising from €145.52 to €164.15 per 100 kg.
