Brazilian pork exports maintain momentum

Brazil’s pork exports increased in February. Exports were supported by strong demand from Asian markets. A sharp rise in shipments to the Philippines stands out.Brazil’s pork exports totalled 122,100 tonnes in February. This represents an increase of 6.7% compared to 114,400 tonnes in the same month last year, according to an analysis by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association ABPA. Export revenues also increased during the month. International sales reached $284.1 million in February, which is 4.1% higher than the $272.9 million recorded in February 2025. The difference between volume and value growth indicates a slight decline in the average export price compared with last year.The upward trend is also visible in the cumulative figures for the start of the year. In the first two months of 2026, Brazil exported 238,400 tonnes of pork, compared with 220,500 tonnes in the same period of 2025. This represents growth of 8.1%. Export revenues reached $554.4 million in January and February combined, an increase of 8.5% compared with $510.9 million recorded in the same two months last year.The Philippines remain the largest export marketThe Philippines further strengthened its position as the largest destination for Brazilian pork exports. Imports by the country reached 40,900 tonnes in February, which is 77.4% higher than in the same month last year. Japan ranked second with imports of 12,100 tonnes, representing growth of 34.8%. China imported 11,100 tonnes, which represents a decline of 43%. Chile followed with 8,800 tonnes, an increase of 6%, while Hong Kong imported 8,000 tonnes, representing a decrease of 40%.Other important destinations included Singapore with 5,400 tonnes, a decline of 16.6%. Argentina imported 4,300 tonnes, which is 10.5% lower than last year. Uruguay purchased 4,000 tonnes, an increase of 8.7%, while Mexico imported 3,200 tonnes, representing growth of 8%. Georgia recorded the strongest increase among the listed markets with 3,100 tonnes imported, which is 122% higher than in February last year.Santa Catarina remains the largest producer despite declineAt the regional level, Santa Catarina remained Brazil’s leading pork exporting state. The state shipped 57,000 tonnes in February, which is 7.7% lower than in the same period last year. Rio Grande do Sul followed with 29,700 tonnes exported, representing growth of 24.1%. Paraná exported 20,600 tonnes, an increase of 15.3%. Mato Grosso exported 3,900 tonnes, which is 39.2% higher than a year earlier, while Minas Gerais exported 3,100 tonnes, representing growth of 34.3%.
