More Dutch table potatoes to France and West Africa

Exporters of Dutch table potatoes sold a larger volume in France in January. There were also more potatoes shipped to West Africa. The total export of table and industrial potatoes last month amounted to 66,552 tons, according to figures from the Dutch Potato Organization (NAO). This is 10,000 tons more than last year. Belgium is traditionally the largest buyer, with 29,435 tons of potatoes going there last month. That is about 5,200 tons less than in the same month last year. France, on the other hand, was a larger buyer of Dutch potatoes. The French bought almost 13,000 tons despite a large domestic harvest. That is much more than usual. In other years, about 1,000 to 3,500 tons go from the Netherlands to France in January. Côte d'Ivoire and Mauritania contributed to the significant potato shipments to West Africa last month. Côte d'Ivoire imported nearly 3,500 tons, and about 3,100 tons of potatoes were shipped to Mauritania. The total sales in Africa were approximately 3,350 tons larger than last year in the same month, reaching a total of 8,540 tons in January.
