Ukrainian chicken export declines, but egg export grows significantly

The Ukrainian poultry meat export has contracted in 2025 for the first time since the outbreak of the war. However, due to the high prices of chicken meat, the export value did increase. Meanwhile, the export of eggs showed a very strong increase. The Ukrainian poultry meat export in 2025 amounted to a total export volume of 458,100 tonnes. According to customs data, the exported volume of poultry meat decreased by 1.8% compared to a year earlier. In contrast, the export value increased by 13.7% due to the high global poultry meat prices. The total export value amounted to €1.06 billion, reports the Ukrainian Association of Poultry Farmers. Despite the slight decline in physical export volume, international demand remained stable, and export revenues clearly increased. The main markets for Ukrainian poultry meat in 2025 were the Netherlands (17.4%), the United Kingdom (11.9%), Saudi Arabia (9.9%), and Slovakia (7.6%). In total, 30.6% of the export, or 139,700 tonnes, went to EU countries. Thus, the EU, the Middle East, and the United Kingdom remain the main sales markets. Egg export increases significantly Around the export of eggs, Ukraine showed a strong growth in 2025. In total, 2.05 billion eggs were exported, an increase of 65.6% year-on-year. Export revenues rose to approximately €186 million, nearly 2.8 times as much as in 2024. The main markets for Ukrainian eggs were in the European Union and the Middle East. The largest buyers were Spain (16.4%), the United Kingdom (11.9%), the Czech Republic (10.3%), Poland (10.0%), Croatia (8.7%), and Israel (7.8%). The EU share of total egg export was 73.4%. The export of egg products also increased. Ukraine exported 8,200 tonnes of egg products with a total value of approximately €44 million. The export volume grew by 2.6%, while the export value increased by 40.3%. The main importers were Latvia, Italy, Poland, and Denmark.
