CRV back in the black after difficult years

Cooperative CRV is back in the black after two difficult years. During the fiscal year 2024/25, not only was a positive gross result achieved, but the net result was also back above zero. In particular, the results in the Netherlands and Flanders were better than expected. The effects of implemented cost savings also became apparent. The net revenue of CRV and its subsidiaries increased by more than€10 million to over €195 million - the highest figure in three years. The operating result improved by approximately €8 million to €3.8 million. Despite a significant tax burden, a positive net result was also recorded. This amounted to €700,000. The previous years were less favorable. According to internal guidelines, there will be no member benefit (dividend/distribution) paid out this year. In the earlier outlined reorganization plan, CRV anticipated a smaller livestock population in the Netherlands and Flanders. As a result, the company was able to realize significant cost savings, but 'the expected shrinkage of the livestock population did not occur in the past year and milk and meat prices were good'. This led to revenue for CRV being above expectations, partly due to an increasing sale of SiryX semen. The outbreak of bluetongue in the summer of 2024 also resulted in extra inseminations, but CRV and the members were not happy about this. The virus brought our member farmers a lot of misery. Additionally, more inseminations were needed to get cows pregnant,' said CFO Egon Verheijden during the announcement of the figures. The foreign branches of CRV performed as expected last fiscal year. The results in Germany and the Czech Republic remained steadily good, and in New Zealand, the company realized revenue growth of about 8%. The branch in Brazil also achieved favorable results this year. It has been different in the past. CRV USA achieved a revenue increase last year, but cost monitoring remains a point of focus here. As China closed its borders to foreign genetics, this market was lost for CRV. In the first months of the fiscal year 2025/26, revenue remained stable. Despite declining milk prices and rising costs for manure disposal ahead, CRV expects that the revenue for the entire fiscal year will exceed the set target.
