Pork export from Brazil grows significantly in 2025

The Brazilian pork export reached a new record in 2025, according to figures from the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein ABPA. In particular, the further diversification of export destinations played an important role in this strong result. In total, the export amounted to 1.510 million tonnes. This is a volume increase of 11.6% compared to 1.352 million tonnes in 2024. With this, Brazil is expected to surpass Canada, taking the third place in the ranking of the largest pork exporters in the world. Moreover, the annual result was significantly boosted by a strong final push in December, when 137,800 tonnes of pork were exported. That volume was 25.8% higher than in December 2024, when the export amounted to 109,500 tonnes. The sector also showed substantial growth in value. The total export revenues in 2025 amounted to $3.619 billion, an increase of 19.3% compared to $3.033 billion a year earlier. In December alone, the export value reached $324.5 million, representing an increase of 25.6% compared to the same month in 2024, when the revenues were $258.4 million. Pork fever in the Philippines The strong export result is largely attributed to the shift in export destinations. There has been a significant change in the landscape of sales markets, emphasizes ABPA president Ricardo Santin in a press release. The Philippines have further strengthened their position as the largest importer of Brazilian pork, while markets such as Japan and Chile have also taken a more prominent place within the top 5. The import of the Philippines in 2025 amounted to 392,900 tonnes. This represents an increase of 54.5% compared to 2024. The strong increase is closely related to the outbreak of African swine fever in the country, which put domestic production under pressure. China followed with 159,200 tonnes, although this represented a decrease of 33.9%. Chile imported 118,600 tonnes (+4.9%), followed by Japan with 114,400 tonnes (+22.4%) and Hong Kong with 110,900 tonnes (+3.7%).
