DCA Market Price dragged down

Uncertainty reigns in the pig market. The outbreak of African swine fever in Spain seems to be the final blow to the already fragile sentiment. Pig prices in the Netherlands continue to drop, despite the fact that the German market has remained stable this week. The DCA Market Price 2.0 also has to follow the downward trend. The situation in the Spanish pig market is precarious, despite the good news that the Chinese export market has barely remained open due to the regionalization agreement. China is by far the largest export market for Spain outside the European Union, importing 40.8% of the 1.32 million tons that the Southern European country sold outside the EU last year. The volume amounted to around 539,060 tons. Meanwhile, the fifth-largest importer, the United Kingdom, has also lifted the export ban. This accounts for a total of 5% of the exports, or about 66,150 tons. This means that over half of the exports to countries outside the European Union are at risk. There is currently no regionalization agreement for Japan (accounting for 14.5%, or 191,860 tons), the Philippines (14.1%, 186,300 tons), and South Korea (6.8%, 90,350 tons). These volumes are now being 'dumped' by Spanish slaughterhouses on the European meat market. In particular, Eastern European buyers are on the lookout for bargains. This makes the market challenging for Northern European slaughterhouses to maintain their sales. Plus on weekly surcharge Pig prices in Europe are moving inconsistently. Spain is logically leading the way in reductions and has already lowered prices by 20 cents. Germany has, despite everything, stood its ground. Dutch slaughterhouses, however, believe that reductions fit the market picture. Market leader Vion implemented the largest discount of 8 cents. However, this was offset by a 2-cent increase due to the raised weekly surcharge, to keep the difference with the other slaughterhouses from becoming too large, so it is reported.
