Avebe: more volume and higher potato price

Avebe has increased the campaign price of harvest 2024 to €115 per ton. The upward trend, in a year where more potatoes have been processed than expected, satisfies the cooperative. Despite increasing geopolitical challenges due to the trade war, the sales volumes and the associated prices are considered good. Avebe foresees a further increase in processing volume for the upcoming campaign. Compared to 2023, the campaign price (at 19% starch) has increased by €15. The slight price decrease seen in 2023 has thus been nullified. Over the past five years, there is clearly an upward trend, with an overall price increase of almost 60% visible. More than expected Despite earlier concerns about the availability of starch potatoes, the recently concluded campaign also saw an increase in volume, without specific tonnages being linked to it. We have processed more potatoes than we expected at the start of the campaign, the cooperative stated in a letter to the approximately 2,000 growers in the Netherlands and Germany. The so-called B and C volumes were settled at €75 and €60 per ton, respectively. Through the balancing scheme, 25% of the delivered B volumes are still settled at the regular campaign price of €115. In addition, most growers are still eligible for an additional full delivery premium of €3. Including quality and storage premiums, the payout price can amount to €151.56. Trade war Avebe's financial performance is not yet known, as the fiscal year continues until the end of July. The cooperative starch potato concern states that there is increasing uncertainty due to the trade war, but nevertheless, the sales prices and volumes are considered good so far. This is attributed to the new strategy, focusing on value-added products in the higher segment. Campaign 2025 The start of the 2025 campaign has proceeded smoothly, and almost all potatoes are now in the ground. Similar to 2024, the registration for the A volume is once again higher, which greatly satisfies the management in times of concerns about sufficient raw material supply. However, the letter expresses hope for significant rainfall soon to sustain growth.
