DCA EU-4 Potato Index continues to tumble

The sentiment in the potato market is not improving. This week, the DCA EU-4 Potato Index takes another step back. A tentative bottom in the market is starting to emerge. After a few weeks without a listing for French fries potatoes, a price reappeared on the board last week. Due to the absence of France for a few weeks and the Potato Index calculating with the last known price, the drop in input was significant. The incremental steps taken in other countries have disappeared. Note takers in Belgium, Germany, and France are unanimous on the price of Fontane at €10. The Netherlands is significantly higher at €11 to €14. The difference between Germany and the Netherlands for Agria is even greater. PotatoNL ranges from €15 to €28.50, while Reka notes €15. The relatively low prices do not particularly stimulate buying interest. Both Belgian listings describe the market as weak. This means: more supply than demand. This is also the criticism that arises regarding the listings. What is a price worth if there is no interest in the potatoes at all? The DCA EU-4 Potato Index has dropped by €2.77 to €11.94 per 100 kilos. This is the lowest level since the autumn of 2023.
