Ausnutria to refocus on goat milk infant nutrition in the Chinese market

Dairy company Ausnutria closed 2025 with a positive result, but it did have to absorb blows. In the important Chinese market, the company had to give up a lot of revenue and profit, and that makes a reorientation necessary. According to the annual report filed in Hong Kong for 2025, the share of the Chinese market fell from 76% of revenue in 2024 to 63% a year later. Sales of infant nutrition based on goat's milk held up reasonably well, although there too some ground had to be given up. Sales of infant nutrition based on cow's milk, however, took a heavy hit. In the Netherlands, this is resulting in job losses at factories in Leeuwarden and Kampen. The declining birth rate in China certainly plays a role in this, but Ausnutria also seems unable to match a company like FrieslandCampina, which achieved good results on the Chinese infant nutrition market last year. Ausnutria seems to draw several lessons from what happened last year. Infant nutrition from cow's milk will become a less prominent product in the Chinese market and more will be focused on infant nutrition from goat's milk and on specialized nutrition for older adults. Even though that latter sales category also took a hit last year. In addition, Ausnutria wants to focus even more on sales outside China, because where things went badly in China, sales went well to excellent almost everywhere else. In the United States, the goat's milk brand Kabrita even ended up on the shelves at Walmart. The only exception to the growth trend was the markets in Southeast Asia. There too, revenue fell slightly. For this year, Ausnutria expects, as reported, higher revenue and profit again.
