Milk supply in the Netherlands reaches highest level ever

The Dutch milk supply increased in the month of October to the highest level ever. The existing record from 2017 has thus been surpassed. According to figures from RVO, the supply last month amounted to 1,181,894 tons, an increase of no less than 7.7% compared to the same month last year. This shows a further increase in supply from month to month. Never before has milk production in October been as high as it is now. The former record level of 2017, when the European milk quota had just been lifted and the supply had significantly increased, is being exceeded. And this is despite the fact that the supply at the beginning of this year was still 5% below the level of that time. Increase in daily production The increase is partly due to the high milk prices that have stimulated production. In addition, the disrupted calving pattern, as a result of bluetongue, is an important cause. Compared to September, the daily production last month showed a further increase to an average of 38,125 tons.
