Cono lowers October price slightly below average

Cono Kaasmakers lowers the milk price for October, in line with what the rest of the Dutch dairy sector is doing. However, the producer of Beemster cheese lowers it less than the average over the past month. Cono is making up some of the deficit. The cheese maker has set the average paid milk price at €51.75 per 100 kilos of milk. This is €2.45 per 100 kilos less than the September price, which can also be calculated based on the Milk price calculator. From the data, it can also be inferred that the base price at Cono comes out to €47.49 per 100 kilos, while members can receive a maximum milk price of €53.49 per 100 kilos. The average milk price decrease in October was based on preliminary, still incomplete data, €2.87 per 100 kilos. The average base price was €50.45, with the average of the maximum achievable prices at €56.31. Branded cheeses Cono is below this, but Cono's milk price will likely come closer to the average paid milk prices in the coming months. This is because the prices for branded cheeses, such as Beemster, and other cheeses in the higher segment, generally change less quickly than the prices of regular 'bulk cheeses'. Even though the market share of premium cheeses has declined slightly over the last few years, for Cono, these types of cheeses, along with the market share, are essential to be able to pay a better milk price.
