Belgian LDA joins €50.00 group

The Belgian LDA reduces the milk price for August by more than €1.50 per 100 liters, thus joining the group of processors that pay a base price of just over €50.00 per 100 liters. LDA reaches this level a month earlier than the peer companies. The pace of milk price reduction in Belgium is slightly higher than in the Netherlands, but due to the different calculation method, the level also seems to be slightly lower. In Belgium, payment is based on liters, not kilos, and the standard fat and protein content per liter is also slightly lower. As a result, prices also seem slightly lower. Still, this is not everything. The three Dutch processors in the Belgian market all have payment levels that are several euros per 100 liters higher, as is shown in the DCA Milk Price Calculator. Earlier, Arla and Milcobel lowered their milk prices in Belgium to the €50.00 level, but they did this for the month of September. LDA follows this example, but for August already. LDA is also progressing stepwise to a lower milk price level. The latest reduction for August is by €1.53 per 100 liters to a base price of €50.11. Before that, there was a similarly comparable reduction. Milcobel has kept the milk price stable for a longer time but reduced it for September by €3.08 all at once. Both Belgian cooperatives are struggling with a sharply decreased mozzarella price while the lower prices for butter and milk powders also impact them significantly.
